This is a brand new sport course being offered by Cadbury College for September 2017, in line with the new national specification(s) standards that have been recently set by the Government, universities and employers. The aim is to prepare students for both the academic rigour of a university undergraduate degree and to successfully enter into a career of their choice after completing their course and vocational work experiences.

Course Content

  • Sport and Exercise Physiology
  • Functional Anatomy
  • Applied Sport and Exercise Psychology

There are 6 optional units, taken over 2 years:

  • Socio-cultural issues in sport and exercise
  • Specialised fitness training
  • Physical activity for individual and group based exercise
  • Biomechanics in sport
  • Specialised fitness training
  • Research Project in sport

Where does it lead?

  • Most go to local Universities: Coventry, Birmingham & BCU are three examples.
  • Some students go out of the area: Gloucester, Worcester and Staffordshire are all popular.
  • A minority of students travel further afield. This September, Stirling (Scotland) and Westminster (London) were the destination for two students.
  • In terms of courses/careers that students go onto apply for: Sport Exercise Sciences, Sport Coaching, Sport and Event Management, Physiotherapy, Sport massage, teaching in primary and secondary education and Socio-Sport degrees are the seven main degree areas that students go onto study. Depending on what students study, it can lead to a BA (Hons) or a BSc (Hons).
