Course Overview For Art At Cadbury Sixth Form College

The Fine Art course at Cadbury is an experimental but structured course which involves a wide range of familiar and unfamiliar media and techniques to excite, inspire and develop creativity. The course begins with a six week teacher led ‘induction’ where you will use a variety of drawing, painting, three dimensional and mixed media techniques. This will enable you to get ‘back up to speed’ after your summer break and provide a broad range of skills for the following thematic unit of work, giving you the opportunity to settle into AS study and become familiar with the multimedia nature of the course.

With this newly acquired knowledge, you will then have the opportunity to pursue your own creative thinking using fine art elements. You will receive full support and guidance from your tutors through regular discussion, enabling you to further develop your skills and ideas, connected to the theme. Sketchbooks are used to record and document evidence of the progress of your work through media exploration, annotation, artist referencing and idea development. You are expected to produce final pieces in the manner of a professional artist/designer, again with full support and guidance.
