Overview:
The study of History at A Level aims not only to extend historical knowledge, but to develop the skills of research, analysis and written expression. An individual piece of course work provides students with the opportunity to write at a
greater length on a topic prescribed by the Department.
The current coursework looks at the Stuart era and focuses on whether the Civil War (1640 – 1660) or the aftermath of the Glorious Revolution (1688 – 1707) was the main turning point in British History.
16th and 17th Century History focuses on the reigns of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I in Tudor England, the Stuart monarchs (1603 - 1714) and France under Louis XIV (1661 – 1715) in the European unit.
