Second year Drama students are working towards devising their practical project which will be staged in December 2016. The piece was inspired by a visit to see Kneehigh Theatre’s Amazing Story of Adolphus Tips by Michael Morpurgo at the Birmingham Rep on Thursday 13th October.
Students’ work is also inspired by Frantic Assembly who came into college and delivered a workshop with them, and Theatre Complicite whose work they are studying as part of the course. They have just built their set and have written the script themselves.
Ravinder Jhite said, “The students have worked as a strong team and shown exceptional commitment and organization. They have come into College during half-term to rehearse their piece for a full day of hard but enjoyable work on staging the play. The play is about childhood in the wild and features some stunning scenes.”
Speaking to some of the students involved, it is clear that the workshops were an enriching experience to support them with their coursework and upcoming projects.
Hannah Farrell of St Paul's Roman Catholic School for Girls said, "I enjoy creating characters I can play and love the collaboration between different members of the group." Courtney Farnsworth of Selly Park Technology College said, "The sessions have lots of opportunities for experimentation and trying out different ideas and concepts. Seeing the production helped us to be adventurous with our ideas."
We are excited to see their production in December!
