The Taming of the Shrew

Drama and English staff and students enjoyed a day of interactive, practical and fun workshops centred around the play "The Taming of the Shrew" by William Shakespeare.

The sessions were held by Tom Davey, a representative from Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London.  The first workshop was for students who are going to see the production of The Taming of the Shrew in London in 2 weeks time at the Globe Theatre. The workshops aimed to support the students in writing their analyses of the performance for their coursework.  Tom helped them to get into character and fully understand the play, its ideas and the interactions between the performers.  The second workshop was aimed at staff of English and Drama departments, demonstrating practical strategies for teaching any Shakespear play to a cohort of students,

Law students experience beyond the classroom

Law Courts

Students studying Law and Applied Law at Cadbury College had the opportunity to explore life within the legal field beyond the classroom last week.

Second year students studying Law at the University are partially assessed on presentation skills.  Cadbury College provided the students with topics covered in A-Level and BTEC Level 3 classes in advance of the experience, and the students from The University of Law presented to our students.  Lawyers from Evershed, one of the top 50 law firms worldwide, supported the assessment of the University students' presentations, and our students were granted the opportunity to talk to them about their future prospects, working in law and different career options!
