27th July 2010 - Congratulations to Michael Hughes:
A piece of music composed by student Michael Hughes has been selected by judges to be performed at the BBC Proms Inspire Young Composers concert at the Royal College of Music. The piece, entitled "Rondo For Two Guitars and Marimba" took two months to write and speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Michael said: “I started playing the classical guitar when I was in year seven at Queensbridge School. My dad and grandad are both musicians so it’s in the family and it was good to have people to talk to about music. I wasn’t as into classical music as much at first but then when I started learning more about it and listening to it more I really began to like it. I will continue to play the guitar but I am really enjoying the composing side. I really didn’t expect to do so well in the competition. To have my music played by professionals is going to be amazing.” The performance will be recorded by Radio 3 and will be broadcast on August 6th. You can read the Birmingham Mail article by clicking here. Congratulations Michael!

Between 3rd and 8th February 2010, Cadbury College’s AS and A2 Spanish students embarked on an exchange with I.E.S. Fuente Nueva, a secondary school located in El Ejido, Almería. The students stayed with local host families and accompanied Spanish students their own age to their normal classes for a real opportunity to practice their Spanish with native speakers and experience the culture first-hand. I.E.S. Fuente Nueva provided an excellent program of activities from sampling the local tapas to historical tours around Almería, the capital of the province, and day-trips to the beautiful city of Granada and its architectural wonder, the Alhambra. The exchange was a huge success and was thoroughly enjoyed by both the Spanish and English students. Click here to browse the gallery of photos from the trip.

29th January 2010 - Congratulations to Shivdev Singh Matharu:
Congratulations to Shivdev Singh Matharu who has been appointed Student Governor at Cadbury Sixth Form College. He will be formally elected onto the corporation on Saturday 6th February.
14th January 2010 - Have you thought about being a governor of your college? If not, you should! Being a student governor is an important role that will allow you to have a real influence on the strategic direction of the college and the experience it provides for students. The student governor has a challenging role in that governing board members are appointed as individuals who should not hold mandates from groups. It is difficult for a student to be 'representative' of a large and disparate group, especially if you are trying to balance your responsibilities as governor with your studies. It is important that you are able to commit to attending several meetings (about ten) each year. Meetings usually start around half past five and last around two hours, in addition there is one whole day Saturday meeting each year. Your term of office would usually be until you leave college, with a maximum term of two years. An application form can be downloaded from the Moodle main screen. Printed details can be obtained from Student Services (upper mezz).
13th January 2010 - Congratulations to all staff and students:
Yet again Cadbury College is the top A Level college in Birmingham, Solihull and the surrounding district. Click here for further details which have been taken from http: www.dcsf.gov.uk/performancetables for 2009 (published January 13th 2010.
