Frantic Assembly deliver fantastic workshops at Cadbury College

Yesterday, Cadbury Sixth Form College welcomed the pioneering Physical Theatre Company, Frantic Assembly.  Representatives from the company delivered hands-on and interactive workshops to our A-Level Drama and Theatre Studies and BTEC Performing Arts students, which were extremely well received.

The workshops took place in Cadbury College's very own Bob Michel performance theatre.  Sean Hollands, a practitioner from the company, helped students to develop techniques through a range of exciting activities in preparation for their second year of study at Cadbury College, when they will be designing and producing their own original works.

One of our A-Level Drama and Theatre Studies students, Georgie Larkin, discusses her experiences at the workshop: “Sean was really helpful and made it fun and interesting. The workshop prepared us for the amount of effort we have to put in and helped us to learn about different movements that tell a story to the audience.”

The workshop proved to be highly successful and challenging for the students and highlighted the nature of the work of the company who have performed five star productions such as "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time”, which is currently touring the UK.

Frantic Assembly have also been involved in directing the new television series Humans.

Ravinder Jhite, our Drama, Theatre and Performing Arts teacher, said “The workshop was outstanding and has certainly developed students’ creativity and ideas. They worked well as a team and this experience will undoubtedly lead to high quality performance work in the second year. Sean was inspirational as a workshop leader and we hope he will come to the College again to work with our students."

This academic year has seen some fabulous, sell-out performances from Cadbury College students, including the musical Sweet Charity, Macbeth, A Taste of Honey, The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui and a selection of evening and matinee performances of singing and dancing.

Well done to everyone involved!
