‘Key concepts in Sociology’ by Emily Painter was published by Harper Collins in September 2013, and is part of a series of five titles aimed at GCSE and A Level students.

The book explains essential ideas and techniques to anyone studying Sociology in schools or colleges.

The idea for the book came after Emily wrote a series of articles for Sociology teachers on the ‘freedom to teach’ blog, which was set up by Harper Collins to encourage the sharing on good practice between teaching professionals.

This is the first time A Level Sociology teacher Emily has been published. She commented: "Writing a book to a publisher’s deadline involves a huge amount of hard work. I learnt a lot about the publishing process and it enabled me to research my subject in greater detail. It is really rewarding to finally see my name in print”.
