A showcase of artistic talent
26 May 2014
On Thursday 26th June 2014 from 6pm to 9pm, Cadbury College opens its doors for a Creative and Performing Arts extravaganza at its Kings Norton Campus.
Students of Art, Graphics, 3D Design, Textiles, Photography, Product Design, Media, Film, Music and Performing Arts will showcase their work throughout the campus with an open exhibition of work plus live music performances, a fashion show and film screenings.
As well as the exhibition and performances the night will also include an awards ceremony to recognise individual achievement throughout the college.
One student whose work will be on show is eighteen year old Bongiwe Mosweunyane. The former George Dixon International School pupil, who is nearing the end of her second year at the specialist sixth form college, is studying three A Levels including Textiles and plans to study fashion at university.
For her textiles final project Bongiwe explored a theme of ‘growth and evolution’ by creating an asymmetrical skirt with a macramé top. Speaking about her experience of A Level Textiles, she said: “I really love fashion and the course has given me the freedom to express myself and not be afraid to experiment with new materials and try out different styles. I can’t wait to see my creation modelled in the fashion show.”
Assistant Director of Creative Arts, Lydia Maher said: "The Creative and Performing Arts evening is the perfect opportunity to showcase the wonderful work our students create throughout their time at Cadbury College. The students have worked so hard to produce such a high standard of innovative and inspiring pieces.”
