"Picking up the Pieces" with Ashram Moseley

On 11th December, Cadbury College welcomed representatives from Ashram Moseley, who form part of the Accord Group.

The organisation has recently devised and published a “game”, which aims to raise awareness of issues experienced by many; domestic violence, forced marriage and FGM amongst others.

The conference was delivered in Cadbury College’s 180-seat Bob Michell Performance Theatre to a group of A-Level students and a range of 30 external providers who were invited to attend.

The event was covered by local radio stations, Capital FM and Heart FM, who spoke to some of the students who took part in the event afterwards to find out what they thought.  First year students, Alima Sadia and Semi Olujimi said to the radio station in their interviews, “It was an eye-opening experience—I wasn’t aware of some of the issues that go on!”  Talking about the game, they said, “We found the game really enjoyable, and it helped to understand the issues.  It was really engaging.  It’s much more effective than just sitting in a lecture, because it’s interactive and requires participation, so it encourages you to pay attention and listen properly.  We’ve taken such a lot away from today’s conference!”

A big thank you to Ashram Moseley and to everyone who was involved with the event today!
