Line Manager: Student Progression Officer
Job Purpose: To support the Careers Team in meeting the Careers Strategy and Gatsby Benchmarks. You will Source and advise the partnership of new placements by regular contact with employers. You will ensure all health and safety regulations are met with regards to students and their work place.
Salary Grade: Grade 4 Point 22 - 25
Salary: Between £18,494 to £20,458
Hours: 08:30 – 16:15, Monday to Friday (36.5 hours per week) Full Year (52weeks)

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Ensure the effective management of the school work experience programme. Liaise with the supporting work experience partnership to ensure a comprehensive database with regards to placements.
  • Source and advise the partnership of new placements by regular contact with employers.
  • Ensure all health and safety regulations are met with regards to students and their work place.
  • Provide comprehensive information to parents regarding work experience; this will include creating documentation on a regular basis and,when appropriate, have one-to-one contact with parents.
  • Ensure the successful implementation of the work experience programme through structured lessons, ensuring all students understand, and are able to access, the data base, and are fully advised and supported with information and choice.
  • Provide and collate all the necessary documentation to employers, parents and students with regards to data protection, health and safety, job descriptions, and where appropriate pupil medical details/confidential details.
  • To ensure that vulnerable students are placed in the most suitable environment and the placements would be regularly monitored.
  • Advise teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure awareness of the work experience programme and necessary involvement.
  • Monitor feedback and deal immediately with any issues arising.
  • To be available as first point of contact for employers, pupils and parents during the work experience programme. (Out of normal working hours if necessary).
  • To assess, through the delivery of work experience debrief sessions, the success of the programme.
  • Such other duties as may be determined from time to time within the general scope of  the  post;  duties  and  responsibilities  outside  the  general  scope  of  the  post  will only be required with the agreement of the post-holder.
Requirements

Essential

  • Demonstrates relevant levels of knowledge and skill.
  • Minimum expectation of written English and Maths expected. (A/B GCSE or Equivalent)
  • Experience in a similar role within an academic institution or relevant business environment.
  • Knowledge of relevant quality standards, Careers Strategy and Gatsby Benchmarks. Confident in health and safety, insurance checks and risk assessments.
  • Demonstrate experience in the successful relationship management of a wide group of internal and external stakeholders at various levels.
  • Report writing and presentation skills (to analyse data and present in accurate format using Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Proven experience advising students or a similar group of individuals
  • Excellent IT skills (word-processing, spread sheet and database packages, email and Internet research
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication with a proven track record of engaging effectively with people at all levels both internally and externally
  • Excellent ability to identify stakeholder needs and expectations and keep them in mind when taking actions or making decisions.
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and business acumen with an ability to prioritise and delegate work in a very busy environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including oral and written communication with a proven track record of engaging effectively with people at all levels both internally and externally
  • Excellent ability to identify stakeholder needs and expectations and keep them in mind when taking actions or making decisions
  • Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and business acumen with an ability to prioritise and delegate work in a very busy environment
  • Excellent attention to detail, organising and prioritising work and working accurately under pressure
  • Ability to deal effectively with unexpected situations, both individually and for the team, taking advantage of opportunities and overcoming problems
  • Ability to effectively deliver conflicting priorities and challenging workloads by maintaining focus on agreed individual and team objectives

  • Excellent influencing and negotiating skills.

 

Desirable

  • Advice and Guidance qualification (or practical experience) that demonstrates relevant levels of knowledge and skill
  • Knowledge of current trends in employment and subject specific specialisms
  • Experience of training and development opportunities
  • Full Clean Driving Licence
