What does the course involve?

Developing a critical understanding of organisations, the context in which they operate, the markets they serve and the process of adding value through a problem-solving approach to study. You will learn how to analyse issues within business and understand the impact on individuals and organisations of external and internal influences. By looking at qualitative and quantitative information you then make an informed judgement and propose evidence-based solutions to business activities. A keen interest in keeping up to date with current affairs and a willingness to watch the news and read around the subject is a must!

Your work will be assessed regularly throughout the course via directed study, class tests and major assessments at key times throughout the year.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 and above, including Maths and English at grade 5, with at least two at grade 6.

Employability

Business Studies can seriously enhance your employability. Many students have gone on to University to study Business, further specialising in a particular area. Other students are studying Business at degree level in conjunction with another subject, such as Fashion and Business or Law and Business. Some students go on to secure apprenticeships at large organisations, for example KPMG, where they work and study in an Accounts and Business environment.

How does the college allocate places to students?

All applicants will be invited to attend an admissions interview. An offer of a place to study at Cadbury Sixth Form College is made subject to you meeting the College's standard entry grade requirements.

How much does it cost to study at Cadbury Sixth Form College?

There are no tuition fees for 16-18 year-olds. Students are asked to pay a £25 book deposit when they enrol at the college, however this is returned at the end of the two years of study when all books and resources have been returned to the college. Some subjects will offer field trips which may impose some additional costs, however these costs will be kept to a minimum and these field trips are not compulsory.

When does enrolment take place?

Enrolment takes place from GCSE Results Day. Further details about enrolment and a date/time for your individual appointment will be sent to you in a letter over the summer holiday. Enrolment takes on average 1-2 hours.
