Matt Rose joined Cadbury College in 1997 to study A-Levels in Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Further Maths. Reflecting on his time spent studying at Cadbury College, Matt said, "I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the college, and I actually met my now-wife and Best Man there too! I have many happy memories from my time there! Whilst I was studying my A-Levels, Cadbury hosted a career-focussed talk discussing embarking on a career in Optometry. It was because of this talk, complemented by teacher support and my enjoyment of the subjects, that I decided to study Optometry as a university degree."
Matt studied a BSC (Hons) Optometry degree at the Institute of Science and Technology at the University of Manchester between 1998 and 2001, followed by the successful completion of his Professional Qualifications in 2002.
After completing his studies, Matt gained a wealth of experience by working across the world. He began by working in his local independent Opticians in 2002, after which he made the journey to New Zealand in 2004 to continue gaining work experience whilst travelling the beautiful country.
10 years after leaving Cadbury College with a strong set of A-Levels, in 2008 Matt became the Business Owner of Harborne's Brittain Opticians, which is well-respected within the community. 2016 marks the eighth anniversary of Brittain Opticians, and is also being marked by a milestone 15,000 customers since the store opened on Harborne High Street. Discussing the success of his business venture with Brittain Opticians, Matt said, “I started Brittain Opticians because I wanted to provide the people of Birmingham with an eye-care service that didn’t compromise on standard or style. I wanted to create a non-clinical and personable environment that still had top-of-the-range equipment and products, delivered by a team of passionate experts. The past eight years and 15,000 customers prove that we have achieved what I wanted to, and I’m keen to continue growing the business to ensure we’re offering the best service, latest optical insight, and most forward-thinking brands.”
