Introduction to Screen Printing & Textiles Courses

Screen Printing

At Cadbury College students have access to a range of facilities that they can use to enhance their studies. Our 3D Design students have a variety of materials they use and often have tutorials from professionals about techniques and tips to help refine their design skills. Our Textiles students learn skills that vary from fabric manipulation to garment construction all of which help give the students the best possible sixth form college experience.

Recently, however, the Art department opened their doors to Year 10 students from Queensbridge School to give the students a taste of what they could be creating if they chose to study A-Level Art at Cadbury College. The students got a tour of the Art facilities available at the college and were able to produce some amazing artwork after their introduction to screen printing.

The process of screen printing includes a fine mesh material that is fixed to a wooden frame. Often the intended design is transformed into a stencil to ensure that the areas to be printed are left on the mesh. Ink is then used and pressed through the mesh using a rubber squeegee to transfer the design over.

Students at Cadbury Sixth Form College benefit by learning from experienced staff many of which have industry experience to give students the best insight into their studies. Our Art students are always learning techniques and developing their creativity. To find out more about our Art Courses and see if it could be the course for you click here.
