In September 2016, the new academic year began and exciting change was on the horizon for Cadbury College. With a view to become part of the Covetry University Group, coupled with the appointment of a new Vice Principal of Curriculum and Quality, the academic year got off to an invigorating start, which promised to support the mission of the College to provide high quality education leading to excellent higher education and employment prospects for a diverse community of students.
Leanne Watkins-Gale (Vice Principal of Curriculum and Quality) joined the College's Senior Leadership Team, comprising of Lynnette Michaelides (Safeguarding Lead and Vice Principal of Learner Experience) and Jeremy Rogers (Principal). Together, the Senior Leadership Team strive to fulfill the vision to create an excellent source of education at Cadbury College and to give every student the aspiration to succeed. With a fantastic range of A-Level and Vocational courses and a dedicated, specialised pastoral team focussing on employability, progression, achievement and notably student support, the College aims to seek ways in which students as individuals can achieve their goals.
September 2016 saw the College introduce a host of exciting new initiatives to kick-start the academic year, and with the imminent partnership wth Coventry University set to come to life within a matter of months, the College has never been more alive!
During Ofsted's recent visit to the College, they highlighted*:
- Cadbury College have developed a re-vitalised culture of high expectations of students and staff alike, reinforced by regular and forensic monitoring of progression.
- With curriculum and pastoral teams working together, progression towards literacy and numeracy development targets are embedded into the college's curriculum.
- The College's "Study Plus" Support Programme reinforces literacy and numeracy exposure for students.
- The College boasts a safe, secure and inclusive environment where students feel supported and cared for.
- Very good support for students who have special educational needs and/or disabilities.
- Students benefit from good academic and personal support provided by well-qualified teachers, academic mentors and learning support staff.
- Teachers produce well-crafted learning resources to support students’ independent learning.
- The College actively promotes equality of opportunity and celebrates diversity in teaching and learning.
- Students feel safe, and enjoy studying at the College and students' behaviour around the College is good.
- Students have excellent working relationships with their teachers and with each other.
- The additional learning support that students receive benefits their progress and transition to further education and employment.
- Students receive good, impartial careers advice within the college to inform their next steps.
