
External Examinations are taking place this January for a number of students undertaking BTEC qualifications. Attendance at external exams is essential, these dates cannot be re-arranged – details of individual exam dates and times have been sent to student emails. Non-attendance will result in students failing this element of their course. Further guidance on examinations can be found below, please read carefully:
Before your exam
· Check your exam timetable and make a note of days and times.
· Maybe take a photo on your phone.
· If you have any queries, please discuss with your subject tutor in the first instance
· Look at Moodle & Student Portal – Information for Candidates · See Exams Office (office next to Visitor Reception or email [email protected] ) if there are any problems.
· Seating lists for each day will be available outside Student Central & Sports Hall
On the exam day
· Morning - you are expected in college for 8:45am for a prompt 9:15am start.
· Afternoon – you are expected in college for 1pm for a prompt 1:30pm start.
Absence & Lateness
· If you are too ill to attend your exam, you should provide the Exams Team with a medical certificate.
· If you are late for an exam, go straight to the exam room. You may not be admitted to the exam so please be on time!
Mobile phone/ iWatch/ iPod/ Electronic device/ watch warning
· You must not have your mobile phone/ iWatch/ iPod/ Fitbit in your possession during your exam.
· No watches are allowed in the exam room
· Possession alone (not even using it) is classed as malpractice.
· You must hand in your electronic devices before your exam which should be placed in a clearly labelled envelope.
· You should collect your electronic devices after showing your ID card when you have finished.
ID, coats, bags & equipment
· You MUST bring your ID card to every exam. You can get a new one from Reception if you have lost it.
· You must leave coats and bags outside the exam room. Do not leave anything valuable.
· You must bring all your equipment including pens, calculators, mathematical equipment etc. You will not be able to borrow from another student during the exam. You must use a transparent pencil case or clear plastic bag for your equipment.
· No food or drink is allowed in the examination rooms, with the exception of water, which must be in a clear unlabelled see-through bottle.
Social Media
· Be very careful about what you share on-line about exams and assessments
· Awarding bodies monitor social media and will take action – students have been disqualified
You should not:
· copy or allow work to be copied – e.g. posting written work on social networking sites before an exam/assessment
· asking others about what questions your exam will include (even if no one tells you)
· having or sharing details about exam questions before the exam - whether you think these are real or fake.
