In Core Mathematics you will learn and apply real-world Maths skills. If you are studying courses that have mathematical elements in them such as sciences, social sciences, sports and PE, and Health and Social Care, this one-year course will support you in developing your skills. You will consolidate what you learnt at GCSE as well as learning new methods and techniques. The course is half an A Level and is graded A to E, with UCAS points available for each grade.
A minimum of five GCSEs at grade 4 and above, including Maths and English, with at least two at grade 6.
You will study the following areas:
Analysis of Data, Maths for Personal Finance, Estimation, Critical Analysis of Given Data and Models, Graphical Methods, Rates of Change, Exponential Functions.
Assessment
There are two calculator written papers in May. You will also receive regular testing each half term to keep track of your progress through the course.
